Privacy Policy
Seven Reads is a reading app, and a reading app holds intimate things: the books you choose, the passages you mark, the questions you ask. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, what we do with it, and what we deliberately don't do.
What we collect
- Account details. Your name and email address, provided when you sign up directly or through Google or Apple sign-in.
- Your library. The books you add — files you upload, web pages you save, and titles you take from the built-in store.
- Your reading content. Highlights, notes, and your conversations with the AI companion (typed and spoken).
- Reading activity. Your position in each book and time spent reading per day, which powers your streaks and weekly activity view.
- Subscription status. Whether your subscription is active, via Apple's App Store. We never see your payment details — Apple handles the entire transaction.
What other readers can see
The social feed shows only what you're reading and how far along you are. It never shows — and is built so that it cannot show — your notes, highlights, questions, or conversations. That boundary is the core promise of the product.
How the AI works with your data
When you ask a question about a book, the relevant passages you've already read, along with your question and recent conversation, are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate the answer. Voice mode streams your audio to the same provider for the duration of a session. We use this data to answer you, not to advertise to you, and we don't sell it to anyone.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data, to anyone, for anything.
- We don't use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- We don't show anyone your notes, highlights, or questions — not in the feed, not on profiles, not anywhere.
Where your data lives
Your account, library and reading data are stored with our infrastructure providers (Supabase for the database and file storage, Vercel for hosting). They process data on our behalf and under their own security practices.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from the Account tab in the app. Deletion is real and immediate: your books, notes, highlights, conversations, and reading history are removed, including uploaded files. If you'd rather we do it, contact support from the email on the account.
Children
Seven Reads is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use after a change means the current version applies.
